Less Thinking, More Living with Metacognitive Therapy

Learn how to change your relationship with your thoughts using Metacognitive Therapy. Evidence-based and refreshingly straightforward.

Welcome to Lazy Therapy

  • At Lazy Therapy, I believe in an effortless yet effective approach to mental health. Using Metacognitive Therapy (MCT), I help you understand your thinking processes without the pressure to change the content of your thoughts. By simply observing your thoughts, you learn to create distance from stressors and cultivate lasting well-being.

  • Why Choose MCT?

  • MCT is built on the idea that it’s not your thoughts themselves, but your relationship to them, that shapes your emotional world. By adjusting how you engage with your thoughts, you can shift your perspective.

  • How MCT Can Help You?

  • If anxiety, low mood, or stress feels overwhelming, MCT offers a structured, practical approach to reclaim your mental space. With metacognitive skills, you can:

  • Break free from unhelpful thought cycles: MCT directly targets the processes that maintain worry, rumination, and other repetitive negative thinking patterns. By understanding and modifying your metacognitive beliefs (your beliefs about your thoughts), you can interrupt these cycles.

  • Observe your thoughts without judgment: A core element of MCT involves developing the ability to notice your thoughts as mental events, without getting caught up in their content or judging them as inherently true or important. This detached observation creates psychological distance.

  • Respond to your thoughts with intention, rather than reaction: MCT aims to increase your sense of control over your attentional focus and your responses to thoughts. Instead of automatically reacting to negative thoughts, you learn to choose how much attention to give them and whether to engage with them.

  • What to Expect at Lazy Therapy

  • In our sessions, we’ll work together to explore your thinking patterns and gently reshape your relationship with your thoughts. The goal isn’t to eliminate your thoughts but to help you break free from cycles of worry and distress.

  • Considering Support for Your Wellbeing?

  • If you're curious about how MCT can support you in managing overthinking, anxiety, stress, or low mood, I offer accessible and practical mental health services. Exploring therapy is a step towards understanding your mind in a new way.
